LED Bulbs come in the choice of three color temperatures, but what does ‘color temperature’ mean? Check our Colour Guide and find out…

LED Colour Guide

Don’t worry too much, as it is quite simple to understand. In basic terms, the ‘color temperature is the color of the light source. You see, not all light sources are the same. The easiest way to show this is to compare lighting from a bulb in your house with that from a candle.

You notice that compared to your bulb, the candle has a more yellowy orangey glow to it. This is because the two light sources have different color temperatures.

The colors of the LED lights affect our mood, so we have to be wise to choose the right ones. For example, a Warm White color temperature is optimal for Bed Rooms, The Living Room, and Wall Lights. Day White for Kitchens, Dining, Corridors, Stairs. Cool White more for Bathrooms, Offices, or Workshops. You can read more about the rooms and light colors below…

The Sun

The color temperature of the sun can vary greatly according to the time of day and weather, but the standard value that is used is around 5500K. This appears to us the most natural-looking light, not warm or cool.

Color temperatures over 5000K are called Cool White. This light color is pure white and is often seen in offices where it is said to enhance concentration. Lower color temperatures around 4000K are called Day White or Natural White this is the medium range, good for many areas where natural bright light is required. 2700K – 3000K are called warm white colors and are said to increase relaxation. A candle has a temperature of around 2000K, which is why it appears warm, yellow, and relaxing!

Warm White
